A comprehensive review meeting of World Bank-funded projects in Balochistan was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Balochistan. The meeting focused on evaluating the progress of ongoing development projects and addressing implementation challenges across various sectors.
The high-level meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary (Development) along with Secretaries from key departments including Education, Irrigation, Health, Livestock, Agriculture, Public Health Engineering, and Communication & Works.
The portfolio review covered projects across various sectors, including the Balochistan Human Capital Investment Project, Balochistan Integrated Water Resources Management and Development Project, and Balochistan Livelihoods and Entrepreneurship Project. Additionally, the meeting discussed the provincial component of federally managed projects, particularly the Integrated Floods Resilience and Adaptation Project (IFRAP).
During the meeting, Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of timely completion of ongoing projects and directed all relevant departments to accelerate their implementation activities. “These projects are crucial for the socio-economic development of Balochistan, and any delays in implementation directly affect our citizens,” the Chief Secretary remarked.
Special attention was given to pipeline projects, including the Balochistan Water Security and Productivity Improvement Project (BWSPIP) and the Getting Results: Access and Delivery of Quality Education Services in Balochistan (GRADES B) project. The Chief Secretary instructed concerned departments to expedite the preparation and approval process of necessary documentation for these upcoming initiatives.
The meeting also reviewed the current fiscal year’s disbursement targets.
Department Secretaries were directed to maintain close coordination with project implementation units and remove any bottlenecks hindering project progress. The Chief Secretary emphasized that regular monitoring mechanisms should be strengthened to ensure timely achievement of project milestones.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance the implementation pace of development projects and ensure their successful completion within stipulated timeframes.
