ACS (Development) directs Bureau of Statistics to develop a practical framework for integrating departmental databases to support evidence-based decision making.
The Additional Chief Secretary (Development), Planning & Development Department, Government of Balochistan, chaired a meeting on 4th September 2026 with the Bureau of Statistics to explore mechanisms for strengthening the use of government data for informed and evidence-based decision making.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary (Staff) to the Chief Secretary, Government of Balochistan, along with senior officials of the Bureau of Statistics and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, the forum held detailed discussions on the existing data systems and databases maintained by various Administrative Departments of the Government of Balochistan. The participants examined the possibilities of developing an effective mechanism for integrating and consolidating departmental databases to facilitate timely access to reliable and comprehensive information.
The meeting emphasized that an integrated government data framework would help overcome fragmentation of information, improve data accessibility and quality, and facilitate evidence-based policy formulation, development planning, resource allocation, monitoring, and evaluation.
The Chair stressed the need for greater coordination among Administrative Departments and the Bureau of Statistics to establish appropriate standards and mechanisms for data sharing, validation, interoperability, and regular updating of departmental databases.
The forum also discussed the importance of ensuring data accuracy, consistency, security, confidentiality, and institutional ownership while developing an integrated data ecosystem for the province.
The Additional Chief Secretary (Development) directed the BoS team to examine feasible options and develop a practical framework for integrating departmental databases. He emphasized that the proposed mechanism should be sustainable, user-oriented, and capable of providing decision-makers with timely and reliable information for effective governance and development planning.
The meeting concluded with directions to undertake necessary follow-up actions and formulate recommendations for establishing an effective and coordinated data integration mechanism across the Government of Balochistan.
