PDWP considers Rs. 350m gravity water supply scheme for Zhob, benefiting 150,000 people.
The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), Government of Balochistan, held a meeting on 1st October 2026 under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary (Development), Planning & Development Department, to consider a development proposal submitted by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department regarding the provision of a gravity-based water supply scheme for Zhob. During the meeting, the forum deliberated upon the proposal titled “Construction of Gravity Water Supply Scheme at Zhob”, with an estimated cost of Rs. 350 million. The proposed project is aimed at addressing the water supply requirements of Zhob and is expected to cater to the water needs of approximately 150,000 people. The forum undertook a detailed scrutiny and comprehensive evaluation of the proposal, with particular emphasis on its technical feasibility, proposed design, implementation requirements, financial implications and anticipated benefits for the population of Zhob. The PDWP highlighted the importance of reliable and sustainable water supply infrastructure, particularly in areas facing increasing demand for potable water. The proposed gravity-based system is intended to strengthen water supply arrangements and contribute towards improving access to drinking water for the local population. After detailed deliberations and taking into account the technical and feasibility aspects of the proposed scheme, the PDWP considered the proposal submitted by the PHE Department. The Chair emphasized that the project should be processed and implemented in accordance with the approved technical standards, applicable financial rules and prescribed procedures, while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, transparency and efficient utilization of public resources.
