PDWP Reviews Irrigation Sector Development Projects to Strengthen Water Management and Agricultural Productivity

The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary (Development), Planning & Development Department, Government of Balochistan, convened its meeting on 9th July 2026 to review development initiatives in the Irrigation Sector.

During the meeting, the forum undertook a detailed scrutiny and comprehensive evaluation of the irrigation-sector proposals placed before it. The projects were examined with particular emphasis on their technical feasibility, development objectives, financial implications, sustainability, and anticipated benefits for the people of Balochistan.

The projects considered during the meeting are aimed at addressing key challenges in the irrigation sector, including the efficient management and distribution of available water resources, rehabilitation and improvement of irrigation infrastructure, and provision of sustainable water facilities to farming communities. These interventions are expected to contribute towards increased agricultural output, improved livelihoods, and enhanced resilience against water-related challenges.

The PDWP emphasized that all irrigation-sector development projects must be planned and implemented in accordance with approved technical standards, applicable financial rules, environmental requirements, and prescribed procedures. The forum further stressed the importance of transparency, quality assurance, timely completion, and judicious utilization of public resources.
