The PSC of the Balochistan Special Development Initiative met on 4th September 2026 under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary (Development). The forum reviewed progress of Phase-I, II and III, and recommended the inclusion of new schemes proposed by Deputy Commissioners in Phase-III.
The Project Steering Committee (PSC) of the Balochistan Special Development Initiative (BSDI) convened its meeting on 4th September 2026 under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary (Development), Planning & Development Department, Government of Balochistan. The meeting was attended by all members of the Committee. At the outset, the forum undertook a comprehensive review of the financial and physical progress of BSDI Phase-I and Phase-II. The Committee was apprised of the progress achieved under both phases, including the status of implementation of approved schemes and utilization and release of funds. The forum was subsequently updated on the progress of BSDI Phase-III, particularly with regard to the release of funds, approval of development schemes, and tendering process. The Committee reviewed the implementation status and discussed matters requiring further attention to ensure smooth and timely execution of the approved schemes under the third phase. In the second part of the meeting, the Committee considered the remaining proposals for development schemes received from various Deputy Commissioners, which had been duly scrutinized and recommended by the respective DSC forum. The proposed schemes were examined individually and subjected to thorough scrutiny and detailed deliberations. The Committee also consulted the concerned Administrative Departments to assess the relevance, feasibility, development priorities, and anticipated benefits of the proposed interventions. Following detailed review and consultation, the PSC recommended the inclusion of the proposed schemes in Phase-III of the Balochistan Special Development Initiative (BSDI), subject to fulfillment of the prescribed requirements and applicable procedures. The Chair emphasized that BSDI interventions should remain need-based, demand-driven, transparent, and responsive to the development priorities of local communities. He stressed the importance of ensuring timely implementation, quality assurance, effective monitoring, and efficient utilization of public resources so that the intended benefits of the initiative reach the people at the grassroots level.
